BYLAWS OF

The United Religions Initiative of Henderson County

ARTICLE I – Purpose

The purpose of the URI of Henderson County is to promote daily interfaith cooperation, to end religiously motivated violence and to create cultures of peace, justice and healing for the Earth and all living beings.

ARTICLE II – Membership

Membership of the URI of Henderson County shall include representatives of at least three different religions, spiritual expressions and/or indigenous traditions. Any person who is 16 years old or older may become a member by signing a membership card indicating his/her agreement with the Preamble, Purpose and Principles and the Charter of the United Religions Initiative (a California Corporation).

ARTICLE III – Officers

1. The officers of the URI of Henderson County shall be the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

2. There shall be a Circle of Trustees, with no less than seven members, including the officers, and including representation from as many religions, spiritual expressions and/or indigenous traditions as possible, and including as much racial and sexual diversity as possible.

3. The Circle of Trustees will be reelected at the annual meeting to be held in December of each year and shall serve for one year or until their replacements are elected and qualified. The Circle of Trustees shall elect the officers at the December meeting.

4. Vacancies, in any office for any reason, shall be filled by the Circle of Trustees for the unexpired term of office.

ARTICLE IV – Dissolution

Upon dissolution of the URI of Henderson County, the Circle of Trustees  shall, after paying or making provision for payment of all liabilities of the organization, shall distribute the assets to The United Religions Initiative; P.O. Box 29242, San Francisco, CA 94129-0242, if said organization is still considered to be a tax exempt organization.

ARTICLE V – Amendments

The Circle of Trustees shall have the power to amend, alter, make and repeal the bylaws of the organization by majority vote.

Adopted by the Circle of Trustees by resolution and vote of all Trustees on the date below:
